At Vinland Meads, honey is the cornerstone of our craft. We meticulously select our honey, starting with the hives at Hays Manor and the Hays Clan Honey Hives. While these are our primary sources, they don't produce enough to meet the demands of Vinland Meads, our family, and our neighbors. Therefore, we partner with select local beekeepers and honey farms to supplement our supply.​

We adhere to a stringent selection process known as "True Sourced Honey." Although there's an organization with a similar name, our concept aligns closely with theirs: honey whose source and conditions can be truthfully documented. We achieve this by personally visiting all our providers, verifying the conditions of their hives, and documenting their honey harvesting methods.​

Our selection criteria ensure that only the highest quality honey makes it into our mead. We look for purity, taste, and sustainable beekeeping practices. By choosing local sources, we support our community and maintain the unique flavor profile that defines Vinland Meads.​

Hays Clan of East Texas

Vinland Meads is dedicated to building a legacy for our seven sons. As part of this mission, we have established strict criteria for our ingredients. When it comes to honey, it must be Texas Honey or sourced from bees within approximately 200 miles of Hays Manor. This not only guarantees freshness but also reduces our carbon footprint, contributing to a more sustainable future.
